Dental bridges, dental crowns, and other forms of dental work are typically created from durable materials that cannot be affected by bacterial tooth decay. At the same time cleaning and maintaining your dental work will contribute to its longevity and maintain the overall health of your gums.

If you find that you’re struggling to effectively clean around your dental work you might want to try using an interdental brush, floss threader or water flosser.

An interdental brush has a small angled head to help clean food particles and plaque from hard to reach places. This makes it especially handy for cleaning some of the tight spaces around bridgework.

A water flosser like Waterpik® creates a concentrated jet of water that can help clean food debris from the gumline and places that are hard for your toothbrush to reach. Just keep in mind that it is not an effective alternative for dental floss for removing matter from between teeth and the gumline.

A floss threader can help insert a strand dental floss into tightly fit spaces between teeth and dental work. Using waxed dental floss will further held the strand slide into place and reduce your chances of snapping the floss into your gums.

If you are in the Foothill Ranch, California area and you are having trouble maintaining your dental work, you can always call 949-458-5858 to speak to Dr. Aria Irvani or a member of the staff at Aria Irvani DDS.
