In general, the best candidates for full mouth reconstruction have destructive bites that significantly impact their oral health. The need for full mouth reconstruction may also result from:
  • Teeth that have been lost due to decay or trauma
  • Teeth that have been injured or fractured
  • Teeth that have become severely worn as a result of long term acid erosion (foods, beverages, acid reflux) or tooth grinding
  • Ongoing complaints of jaw, muscle and headache pain which require adjustments to the bite
  • In addition, many patients who have severely crooked or gapped teeth opt for full mouth reconstruction after TMJ treatment in order to avoid wearing braces for 2 years.Dr. Aria Irvani in Foothill Ranch, CA has extensive experience in cosmetic dentistry and happily offers free consultations.

ALL-PORCELAIN DENTAL CROWNS

If your tooth suffers from damage or decay, we’ll repair it and create a customized replacement to fit over it that looks and functions like your natural tooth. These crowns protect the remainder of your real tooth and restore your smile.

Porcelain crowns are crowns that are fixed dental prostheses which are used to cover a tooth that has:

  • Fractured or chipped
  • Been restored by Root Canal Treatment
  • Has been affected by wear (erosion, attrition or abrasion)
  • Discolored by external or internal factors
  • Has already been replaced by a dental implant
  • Is irregular in shape or size
  • Has little or no tooth structure and is supported by a large composite filling

Porcelain crowns offer aesthetics improvements for those who interested in improving their smiles. Porcelain crowns match the exact color and shade of your natural teeth.
Your crowns will protect fractured teeth or teeth that have undergone restorations (such as root canal treatments or large filling placement) from further decay or fracture.
Porcelain crowns, when placed on dental implants to replace missing teeth, resemble natural teeth allowing patients to smile with 100% confidence.

THE PROCEDURE
Porcelain crown placement requires at least 1-2 dental visits. During the first visit, tooth preparation is completed. This involves slightly trimming the existing tooth to ensure proper seating of the crown once it has been fabricated. Once the tooth is prepared, Dr, Irvani takes an impression of the newly prepared tooth and sends it to the laboratory. The ideal shade is determined based on the color of the natural teeth and the patient’s preference.

In the follow-up appointment, a newly fabricated crown is cemented in place.

ALL-PORCELAIN DENTAL INLAYS AND ONLAYS

We repair tooth damage and decay with inlays and onlays when a filling isn’t enough and a dental crown is too extensive. They blend almost perfectly with your natural tooth.
Inlays and onlays are dental restorations that are used to repair damage or decay. If the damage is not extensive enough to warrant the use of a dental crown but is too serious to be repaired with a filling, our experienced dentists may recommend a dental inlay or onlay. Also known as partial crowns, inlays and onlays are custom-created from porcelain, composite resin material or gold. Our dentists will ensure that your custom inlay or onlay perfectly fits your tooth to restore the health, function, and appearance of your smile. Once placed, they are virtually undetectable in the mouth and conserve much of your natural tooth structure.

Both inlays and onlays are used to restore damaged teeth. The difference between a dental inlay and a dental onlay is that an inlay is used when the damage does not reach the cusps of the tooth, while a dental onlay is used when the damage extends to one or more of the cusps. We will help you determine whether you need a dental inlay or onlay to restore your smile.

We welcome you to call or visit us today to learn more about dental inlays and onlays. We are eager to restore your smile!

Dental Teeth Bonding

DENTAL BONDING

We use dental bonding as an effective solution to chipped, cracked, gapped, or misshapen teeth using a bonding resin that matches your teeth and repairs the problem.  Dental bonding is an alternative to teeth veneers and can be used as a restorative procedure for teeth that are chipped, cracked, discolored or misarranged.

The bonding procedure typically requires between 30 to 60 minutes to complete for each tooth.  First Dr. Irvani determines exactly what color shade your teeth are to select a resin that will blend it naturally.  Once this is done, Dr. Irvani will prepare the tooth so that the bonding material will adhere easier.  This involves roughening the surface of the affected tooth and applying a liquid conditioner.  Once this is complete, Dr. Irvani will apply the resin to the tooth, and cure it in place using an ultraviolet light.  Lastly, Dr. Irvani will apply the finishing touches by shaping and polishing the resin for a good fit.

Conditions we correct with dental bonding include:

  • Spaces between teeth
  • Chipped teeth
  • Stains and discoloration
  • Cracks
  • To provide tooth-colored filling

Dental bonding has several advantages that make it very suitable for minor or temporary changes.

  • Dental bonding is a one-visit, relatively fast procedure.
  • Little preparation is needed on the teeth.
  • Anesthesia is rarely needed unless the bonding material is being used to fill a cavity
  • Bonding can be a good temporary cosmetic fix, until a more permanent solution, such as crowns or veneers, can be obtained.

DENTAL VENEERS

We bond these very thin shells to the front of your teeth to enhance their appearance. Veneers are excellent for fixing teeth with gaps, cracks, chips, and discoloration.

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of ceramic that bond directly to the front and top surfaces of the teeth. They are an ideal choice for improving your smile and have become increasingly popular due to their simplicity and versatility. With veneers as an alternative, there is no reason to put up with gaps between your teeth, teeth that are stained, poorly shaped, or crooked. A veneer placed on top of your teeth can correct these maladies, simply and quickly and help you achieve a beautiful smile!

WILL THEY LOOK LIKE NORMAL TEETH?
When bonded to the teeth, the ultra-thin porcelain veneers are virtually undetectable and are highly resistant to stains. For strength and appearance, their resemblance to healthy, white tooth enamel is unsurpassed by other restorative options. Because they are thin, light can shine through them and they take on the natural color of the underlying tooth.

HOW DURABLE ARE PORCELAIN VENEERS?
With proper care, porcelain veneers will brighten your smile for well over a decade. Your Doctor will ensure that your veneers are crafted from the highest quality porcelains and are bonded with the most advanced and proven materials available.

Veneers can be used to:

  • Close large spaces and gaps between teeth
  • Whiten teeth that are severely stained or discolored
  • Improve the appearance of irregularly shaped teeth
  • Correct slightly crooked teeth
  • Restore teeth that are broken, chipped, worn, or fractured

DENTURES

For lost teeth, we restore your ability to speak, bite, and smile with dentures that are custom-made to fit your mouth, whether you’re missing some teeth or all of them.

Dentures are removable oral appliances used to replicate the look and function of teeth. Whether you lost teeth to trauma or decay, you can trust Dr. Irvani to determine what tooth replacement options are best for you. Our office offers full, partial, and implant-supported dentures to help restore your smile after tooth loss. TEETH WHITENING

Patients can get their teeth whitened easily and effectively. We offer laser bleaching and ZOOM! in-office teeth whitening to drastically brighten your teeth.

Teeth whitening is the most requested cosmetic dentistry treatment. That’s not surprising when you consider it’s one of the easiest ways you can feel more confident when you smile. Plus, whiter teeth instantly make you look years younger.

There are two different causes of tooth discoloration; extrinsic and intrinsic. Extrinsic means outside, so this is when the stains are caused by food and drink such as; coffee, tea, soda, and/or tobacco use. Intrinsic teeth discoloration happens when the stains are caused from the inside. A few of the examples of intrinsic teeth discoloration include; certain medications, tooth trauma, and/or infection.

If you are considering brightening your smile, make an appointment with a Dr. Irvani to evaluate the condition of your teeth and understand your options.

Common questions about teeth whitening procedures
Are teeth whitening products safe?
Yes, studies have shown that teeth whitening does not harm the tooth enamel. The American Dental Association recommends discussing with your dentist which bleaching product would be best for you. One advantage of having your teeth whitened by a dentist is that a dentist makes sure your gums are protected while the bleaching agent is used.

How long does it take to get a whitening treatment?
When performed in a dentist’s office, a teeth whitening treatment can sometimes be completed in approximately one hour.

Is teeth whitening from a dentist better than over-the-counter treatments?
Yes. One reason is that when a dentist whitens your teeth, the result is much more dramatic. The whitening kits and toothpaste which can be purchased over-the-counter can lighten the color of your teeth approximately one shade. In comparison, the professional treatments performed in a dentist’s office can make your teeth three to eight shades lighter.

How long will the whitening last?
The results can last two years or more, depending on if you choose to avoid coffee, tea, wine, and smoking.

Is it true that teeth whitening causes tooth sensitivity?
Teeth can become sensitive; however, this is not permanent. Not all patients experience sensitivity. For those who do, it only lasts approximately two days after the treatment.

What if just one tooth is discolored?
Teeth whitening is used to remove stains from all the teeth at the same time. If you have one tooth that’s discolored due to damage, ask the dentist to explain options such as cosmetic tooth bonding or porcelain veneers for that specific tooth.

Should I have my teeth cleaned before a whitening?
Yes, this will enable the dentist to evaluate the condition of your mouth to make sure your teeth are healthy and gums are healthy. In addition, when all the plaque and tar is removed from your teeth, the whitening results will be better.
